4 skills that will not be replaced by Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the future

You must have heard for years that employees will be replaced by robots.  AI has changed many roles, such as using self-checkout, ATMs and customer support chatbots.  The goal is not to scare people, but to highlight the fact that AI is constantly changing lives and carrying out activities to replace the human workforce.  Also, technological advancements are creating new career prospects.  AI is predicted to increase demand for professionals, especially in robotics and software engineering.  As a result, AI has the potential to destroy millions of existing businesses as well as create millions of new businesses.

Among the many concerns raised by AI is the potential to wipe out a large portion of the human workforce by eliminating the need for human labor.  But it will simultaneously free humans from doing tedious, repetitive tasks, allowing them to focus on more complex and rewarding projects, or simply taking some much-needed time off.

According to a McKinsey report, depending on the adoption scenario, automation will displace 400 to 800 million jobs by 2030, requiring 375 million people to completely change job categories.

These figures can make people feel uneasy and worried about the future.  However, history shows that this may not happen;  There is no doubt that some industries will be transformed to the point where they will no longer require human labor, leading to job redefinition and business process improvement.  For example, the diagnosis of many health problems can be effectively automated, allowing doctors to focus on other major issues that need their attention.  In the context of completely replacing humans, human labor is and will be necessary for the foreseeable future.

Although the potential of AI is unimaginable, it is also restricted.  While it is clear that AI will continue to dominate the professional world on many levels.  However, it cannot be denied that as advanced as AI may be, it will not be able to replicate the human consciousness which strengthens the position of man at the top of the food chain.

So far, we have been talking about jobs that can be taken away as technological progress but again, cannot replace the human aspects of work.  Let’s focus on what they can’t.  There are some things that only humans can do.

There are jobs that require creation, conceptualization, complex strategic planning, and dealing with unknown places and feelings or emotional interactions that are far beyond the expertise of AI.  Let us now talk about some such skills which are irreplaceable till the existence of mankind.

1. Empathy is Unique to Humans

Some might argue that animals also show empathy, but they are not work-takers.  Humans are capable of feeling emotions, as opposed to programmed software designed to produce a specific outcome.  It may sound contradictory, but the personal affinity between an individual and an organization is the foundation of a professional relationship.  Humans need a personal connection that transcends the professional realm to develop trust and human connection, something that bot technology completely lacks.

2. Emotional Intelligence

While accurate, AI is not innate or culturally sensitive as it is a human trait.  No matter how precisely it is programmed to perform a task, it may not have the human capacity to accommodate the algorithm of human intelligence.  For example, reading the situation or the face of another human being.  It lacks the emotional intelligence that enables humans to understand and handle a conversation that requires emotional communication.  Right during your customer care service, the person will always prefer human contact to read and understand the situation, not an automated machine that may not work or be of help beyond programming.

3. Creativity

The Benefit of Being Human: AI can improve productivity and efficiency by reducing errors and repetition and replacing manual jobs with intelligent automated solutions, but it cannot understand human psychology.  Furthermore, as the world becomes more AI-enabled, humans will be able to perform increasingly innovative tasks.

4. Problem-solving outside a code

One can deal with unexpected uncertainty by analyzing the situation;  Such as critical thinking during complex scenarios, and adopting creative strategies.  Unlike humans, who can function under a variety of constraints and settings, AI-powered devices performing beyond their function may be in the distant future but not in the near future.

There is no doubt that AI will not drive the future.  For AI to work, humans need to be creative, practical, and contextually aware.  The reason for this is simple: humans will continue to provide value that machines cannot imitate.
