Quest 2 and PC VR Games: The second half of 2022 is underway and it looks like it will be a relatively quiet month for VR releases, especially PSVR, with nothing on the release schedule. Nonetheless, here’s a look at everything coming to the Quest and PC VR headsets over the next month.
Before we got into August, there were a few newly released games and updates released in late July that weren’t announced when we compiled our July list.
Cooking Simulator VR launched in Quest 2 at the end of the month, along with classic FPS-inspired shock troops.
In terms of game updates, Myst just got a big Quest update that adds hand tracking and some juicy new features, while Walkabout Mini Golf released its Labyrinth DLC course. Zero Caliber also just released new PvP modes in Quest, while PC VR players can jump into Half-Life: Incursion, a new wave-based community campaign for Alyx.
Tower Tag (August 3 – Mission 2 via App Lab)
This futuristic PvP multiplayer shooter is now available on PC VR via Steam Early Access, but is now also available on Quest via the App Lab. There are three game modes, 10 maps, a ranked mode, and the ability to play 1v1 up to 4v4.
PianoVision (early August – Quest via App Lab)
PianoVision is an amazing educational app for Quest, which lets you line up a virtual piano with your real keyboard. It then uses transfer mode to teach you songs, showing the notes falling in sequence onto the keys.
It was initially only available in Closed Early Access in March. PianoVision creator Zac Reid recently told UploadVR that the app will launch on the App Lab in early August, likely later this week.
Warplanes: Battles Over Pacific (August 11 – Mission 2)
The sequel to Net Games’ Warplanes: WW1 Fighters hits the official Quest Store on August 11, after previously launching in Early Access on Steam for PC VR and App Lab for Quest.
Red Matter 2 (August 18 – Quest 2, PC VR)
Perhaps the biggest release this month, Red Matter 2 is the sequel to Vertical Robot’s original from 2019, which set a new standard for stunning visuals on standalone VR hardware. This sequel looks set to do the same to Quest 2 considering a recent tech showcase.
Red Matter 2 launches on Quest 2 and PC VR on August 18.
Nerf: Ultimate Championship (August 25 – Mission 2)
Nerf: Ultimate Championship will bring the iconic foam toy guns to virtual reality. The game is a team-based competitive multiplayer title that offers a mix of first-person shooter gameplay and ambient parkour, exclusively in Quest 2.
